Today I'm at uni.
Sitting in front of a computer surrounded by papers on critiquing journal articles and I can't seem to find any motivation or inspiration. Strangely enough when I got to my lecture this morning it seems my lecturer forgot to....
Room full of students.....no lecturer or anything.
It was soooo strange and eery.
I bailed after a while and went to the library.
I feeling like a seed lacking water and nutrients, quite dormant and ineffective. Surrounded by my mulch of papers and biros. I feel like I need to draw, take pictures and paint. Possibly break things too but have an excuse to say that it's desconstruction is a test in validity of construction to the mind or some other such wank.
This chair is fucking uncomfortable and I'd rather a static one than this because it isn't adjusted right and squeaks every time I move.
I think tommorrow I will discuss reducing my hours a work a little... again.
I have bought the most awesome shoes, the first time ever I've bought something completely impractical because I like the way they look. It's an odd feeling.
My feet will hate me at the end of a day of wearing them but I don't care because they are legendary shoes. *gleee*
I just had the union call me again for the 4th time about the negotiations that are going on today between Bethanie and them. Apparently they have no one that will sit in on them from our site because most people are sick. I've recommended June Fryer, I know it's her day off but maybe she will be interested as she's been complaining that the union isn't making enough headway with the mediation sessions. Most likely she will just get shitty at me for suggesting her when she's got a day off.
Oh well.
I want to start writing a list of acceptable cafes, restaurants and bars that have levels of "...Ambient..." noise that doesn't verge on disruptive and obnoxious to it's customers.
What ever happened to intimacy and ambient surroundings?
Everyone is trying so hard to be "IN" and cool now they don't care that their customers have to yell at each other to talk and communicate...
Unfortunately Dome is rather good, I find they never seem to have background music that insists on smashing it's way into your face. Maybe slightly noisy customers but really that is acceptable. Another bonus is that it is consistent, I have never found a horrible Dome yet.
Exo mod...is really crap for it.
They are too close to the street to get away with playing any type of music that has a beat and really should stick to tracks like Enya and Whalesongs.
Note this is only the Mount lawley Exo mod and I haven't had the opportunity to try the one in the city yet.
Cantina in Mount Lawley is almost acceptable depending on where you sit. They have good service but serve odd food that is based on only italian items and if that isn't what you feel like at that moment you are stuck.
Giardinis in Leederville is alright but only if you sit in the back section otherwise all you get is loud kitchen noises and the sound of cars going past. They do good pizza.
Cafe 130 is way too loud and has no atmosphere considering you have dodgy furniture, people's ciggarette smoke wafting in from the outside area and really cramped setting.
Greens and Co in leederville is always too loud and the service isn't that good. You get the street noise, the overly loud techno and the disgusting ciggarette smoke wafting in from the street. On a bad day you get the smell from the street bums that decide to loiter for a little while on the outside chairs. On weekend evenings you get skanky girls coming in being raucous to use the facilities. It's great... :|
Alexander's in Cambridge street is really good, they are quiet, have awesome service and quite alot of space. Their menu is extensive and they do a good lunch. I need to find out their opening hours so I can go there on the weekends.
Woollylattes on Grantham street isn't too bad but I wouldn't want to go there on a busy weekend for them. They don't have a lot of seating space in amongst the stock displays and it could get really loud with some cackling women in there. They have good service though and a nic range of wools and equipment for knitting. Chris says their foccacia is really nice and I'm quite fond of their ploughmans platter.
